Chair Election Process

Election Announcement

• OMA SpecWorks Election Officers sends an email to the working group announcing the start of a chair/vice-chair election process.
• Sponsor and Full members are permitted to be candidates for chair positions.

The email sent to the group SHOULD contain the following information:

• Elected officers will receive a wide range of support in fulfilling their duties from their group DSO. More details can be found here: OMA Process.

Nomination Process

• To submit a candidature for a Working Group officer position send an e-mail to the election officers.

• You may self nominate for these positions.

• The nomination must contain the following information:

  • the candidate's name and company
  • identify if it is a self-nomination or the nomination of somebody else

• The candidate MAY also submit a Letter of Support (from the candidate's company to affirm the company's support for the candidate's nomination and identify that the candidate shall allocate the necessary time and resources to properly execute the position), CV and a position statement. These can be supplied with the nomination or at a later time. The position statement SHOULD include the candidate's vision and approach on how the working group would benefit from their leadership.

• Nominations will be posted as soon as they arrive during the nomination period.

• The submitter of the nomination will receive confirmation that the candidate has been added to the list of nominees.

• The use of OMA SpecWorks e-mail lists shall not be permitted for any campaign purposes by candidates.

To assist the candidates in informing the membership of their qualifications, the candidates' Letters of Support, CVs and position statements are provided below.

Terms

• Chairs and vice-chairs will hold their positions for a 2-year term.
• The OMA Organization and Process document defines how to fill a vacant position should an officer resign before a term expires.

Election Officers

The Election Officers for this election are John Mudge and Joaquin Prado, both contractors working for OMA SpecWorks.

Consultation Period

• If more than one person has submitted a nomination for a chair, vice-chair position, then a vote will be required.
• The Election Officer in conjunction with the working group define the Consultation Period. See Key Dates for the Elections
• During this period the candidates MAY lobby members of the group.
• The Election Officer will coordinate with the working group and the nominies a day for the nominies to present their candidancy to the working group.

Ballot

• The Election Officer will send an email with private Poll containing the instructions on how to vote for the candidates.

Voting instructions

1. Any individual from a Sponsor or Full member company is entitled to vote.
2. Members are entitled to change their vote as often as they wish until the close of the vote.
3. Go to the WG Messages page, locate and click on the corresponding Chair poll message.
4. In the message click on "Vote Now".
5. Select your preferred candidate.

Election Results

• The Election Officer will announce to the working group the score (in percentage) received by each candidate and will update the Officers table for the working group.
